1. El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie picks up immediately following the events of Breaking Bad, which saw Jesse (Aaron Paul) drive off after escaping the Neo-Nazis holding him hostage. The two-hour film, written and directed by series creator Vince Gilligan, finds Jesse on the run as he attempts to escape law enforcement after the massacre at the compound is discovered. It features many familiar faces from Breaking Bad, both in the current timeline and in flashbacks, and yes, at least one of them is probably who you expect.
2. The Hook Up Plan (Season 2)
You’d be forgiven for not having heard of The Hook Up Plan, an outstanding Netflix original from France. But I’m here to tell you this series is one of the most delightful rom-coms of our time. As the perpetually single Elsa struggles to get over her most recent disaster, her friends hatch an absolutely batsh– plan to raise her confidence. They hire a male escort to take her on dates, and of course the inevitable happens, so by the end of Season 1 the guy is making a grand gesture. While this might sound rote and formulaic, the series features incredible performances and tackles the complexity of female friendship with a fervor that makes it a must-watch. Season 2 picks up after Elsa returns to Paris four months after finding out who her leading man really is, and there are a lot of relationships to repair.
3. Little Monsters
You might not expect Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o to pop up in a streaming horror comedy, but oop, there she is. The star of 12 Years a Slave steps into a completely different role as a school teacher who ends up trapped on a field trip with her entire elementary school class, a washed-up musician chaperoning the trip, and a secretly dark-hearted children’s TV host. Why exactly are they trapped? Oh, you know, just the end of the world, zombie-style. This plucky school teacher was born to rule the apocalypse, though, and nothing’s going to keep her from protecting her class.
