The MCU Infinity Saga Box Set Looks Awesome And Costs Everything

The Infinity Saga Collector’s Edition is coming just in time for Christmas, and it will require the sacrifice of your wallet. Marvel fans had to know the Infinity Saga box set would be expensive — it’s as inevitable as Thanos — and it’s up to you to decide if it’s worth it.

The set includes all 23 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies to date from the first three phases of the MCU, called the Infinity Saga. There will also be a bonus disc with special features like deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes footage. There’s also a lithograph art piece created by Marvel artist Matt Ferguson, and a special letter written by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige.

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray/Blu-ray box set will be available starting November 15 for $549.99. (That’s close to $24 a movie. And how adorable to leave off the penny, like that will help make it look less like $550.) It’s apparently only available through Best Buy, and they even have a payment plan available for $45.84/month.

Here’s what it looks like:

Don’t be surprised if your kid/spouse/best friend/cousin/mom/dad/sibling asks for this for Christmas. Prepare your “It’s too expensive” response now, or perhaps “OK, but that’s the ONLY present you can get all year.”

A few months back, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige teased the possibility of a giant Infinity Saga box set, containing the “really bad” scenes that never made the final theatrical cuts. (Way to sell it, Feige.) He confirmed the box set during the Saturn Awards. At the time, he also showed off one of the deleted scenes that will be included, an alternate ending to Iron Man hinting to Spider-Man and X-Men way before their MCU times.

The Infinity Saga starts and finishes with Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, so I won’t be surprised if some fans want to get the set for the nostalgia factor. The MCU is far from over after the Infinity Saga, though. We’re up to Phase 4, which Kevin Feige unveiled during San Diego Comic-Con, with the new addition of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3 now that Sony and Disney are playing nice again.

There are already plans for Phase 5, which is hoped/expected to include the arrival of the X-Men and Fantastic Four in the MCU, plus Blade, sequels for Black Panther and Captain Marvel, and Guardians of the Galaxy 3. There were three MCU movies in 2019 but only two coming in 2020, and then four in 2021. I’m not sure if four will be he new normal, but Marvel fans seem down for that.

Gimme your knee-jerk on this one: Yes, No, Maybe? A lot of Marvel fans probably already own most of these movies. If they don’t, they can probably stream them soon on Disney+ if they subscribe for the upcoming MCU shows. Sure, there’s extra content here, but is it enough to justify the price? I can’t answer for anyone. My bank account could answer for me, but I don’t care for its tone.
